This project consisted of upgrading the electrical for an existing meat processing plant as well as the installation of approximately 125,000 square feet of new production area. Our work consisted of the installation of five new 4,000 amp, 480 volt, three phase services, including all new underground primary raceways and cables, new switchboards, motor control centers, and all secondary panels. Both the existing plant and new plant included all new process equipment. WEC installed all new motor circuits and process control circuits, as well as all data transmission circuits. A new fire alarm system was also installed. As this was an operating plant all work had to be closely coordinated with the owner to reduce down time to a minimum and keep production going. Process areas consisted of stainless steel raceways and NEMA 4x equipment, as well as food grade installation techniques. All new LED lighting was included in both the old plant and the new. The approximate value of the electrical portion of this project was $22,000,000.
